Michael Jackson up in arms against The Beatles and Elvis Presley in unearthed letter

Music legend Michael Jackson
Music legend Michael Jackson had unleashed his wrath onto rock icons The Beatles and Elvis Presley, as revealed by recently-discovered unearthed letters of the later superstar.

The notes penned back in 1987 by the 'King of Pop' testify how the singer catapulted to fame through his deep-rooted fury over racial inequality across the globe.

According to the letters, Jackson accused MTV of snubbing black musicians while maneuvering all focus on ‘white rock.’

Taking a dig at Elvis Presley, Jackson said he is anything but ‘the King’ while warning Bruce Springsteen that he will show him “who’s the boss.”

Attacking The Beatles, Jackson wrote: “Yes these guys were good, but they weren’t better singers or dancers than the blacks.”

“I am not prejudice, it’s just time for the first Black King now,” he added.

He went on to fulminate against the Klu Klux Klan in America and its racial crimes which surge fears of children being raised in a racist environment in the United States.

“My goal is to become so ‘Big’, so powerful. To become such a hero, to end prejudice. To make these little white kids love me by selling over 200,000,000 albums,” wrote Jackson, adding: “Make them look up to me. I will change the world.”

“I want what’s fair. I want all races to love as one,” he concluded.

Jackson did go on to snag away the title of ‘King of Pop’ becoming one of the most successful musicians around the globe. He is remembered till this day as a legend in the world of music, having sold 66 million copies of Thriller, making it the biggest selling album of all time.

TikTok become the latest target, we are not the enemy

TiKTok welcomes “fair competition” chief executive Kevin Mayer
TikTok pushed back at what it called “maligning attacks” by Facebook as the fast-growing video-sharing app claimed it helps competition in the US market.

The comments by TikTok came hours ahead of a hotly anticipated antitrust hearing with the top executives of Facebook and three other Big Tech firms, and amid suggestions the app may be banned due to its connections to China.

TiKTok welcomes “fair competition” chief executive Kevin Mayer said in a blog post, while adding that “without TikTok, American advertisers would again be left with few choices.”

He added: “Let’s focus our energies on fair and open competition in service of our consumers, rather than maligning attacks by our competitor namely Facebook disguised as patriotism and designed to put an end to our very presence in the US.”

The comments appeared to respond to claims by Facebook CEO last year that TikTok had censored information about protests in China, the home of TikTok parent firm ByteDance.

TikTok, which has grown its user base to an estimated one billion, is striving to show that “we are responsible and committed members of the American community,” according to Mayer, who pledged more transparency from the platform.

“With our success comes responsibility and accountability,” he said.

“The entire industry has received scrutiny, and rightly so. Yet, we have received even more scrutiny due to the company’s Chinese origins. We accept this and embrace the challenge of giving peace of mind through greater transparency and accountability.”

Mayer said TikTok has established a policy on transparency and added that “we believe all companies should disclose their algorithms, moderation policies, and data flows to regulators.”

He repeated the company’s claims that it has no ties to the Chinese government, after TikTok was banned in India and US officials said they were looking at potential actions against it.

“We are not political, we do not accept political advertising and have no agenda our only objective is to remain a vibrant, dynamic platform for everyone to enjoy,” he said.

“TikTok has become the latest target, but we are not the enemy.”

Ramy Youssef over the moon after bagging an Emmy nod

Ramy being the first Muslim American sitcom to be nominated
American actor Ramy Youssef is over the moon after bagging an Emmy nod for his comedy series Ramy which has become the first Muslim American sitcom to get nominated.

The Egytpian-American co-creator of the Hulu series was nominated in the categories of Outstanding Lead Actor and Outstanding Directing in a Comedy Series.

Talking about the massive achievement, Youssef told that the feeling was ‘surreal’.

“I'm super thankful, it's very surreal definitely. It's so cool because really any nomination on this and to be able to get three it's just representative of everyone who has worked so hard on the show. To me even like an acting nomination is a nomination for the whole show and for everyone who worked so hard on it,” he said.

Ramy Youssef's series became the first Muslim American sitcom to bag an Emmy nomination.

Regarding Ramy being the first Muslim American sitcom to be nominated for an Emmy, Youssef said: “It's really exciting because we're so specific. I think that you watch our show, you realize in a good way that we're not even close to covering the entirety of the Muslim experience.”

“For a show that only portrays a sliver of it to get recognized, I think that that should mean that that we're going to get many more Muslim stories greenlit because the umbrella of the Muslim experience is so vast — it's so many different groups, so many types of people.”

“There's so many more stories that that could be told so it excites me for the bigger picture, one that doesn't even include me,” he added.

Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton’s relationship never too steady but despite

Among all the friends and family Harry and Meghan hosted at their house in Oxfordshire
Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton’s relationship was never too steady but despite the odds, the former always hoped for a cordial signal to reach her amidst escalating tensions.

As per an excerpt from Finding Freedom, after her move to Los Angeles, California, the Duchess of Sussex had hoped for Kate to reach out to Meghan in the midst of the family drama to bridge gaps.

The book, written by Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, claims that the Duchess of Cambridge “did little to bridge the divide” between Harry and William or to roll out a red carpet for Meghan to feel more welcome in the family.

"Though it was not necessarily her responsibility, Kate did little to bridge the divide. She was fiercely loyal to her husband and his family,” said the book.

As per the writers, "the gap between the brothers only widened" following the royal wedding of Harry and Meghan in 2018.

"William and Kate’s feelings seemed obvious to the Sussexes that summer and beyond. Among all the friends and family Harry and Meghan hosted at their house in Oxfordshire between May 2018 and March 2019, the Cambridges failed to visit,'" write Scobie and Durand.

"Meghan would agree with the assessment that the duchesses were not the best of friends. Their relationship hadn’t progressed much since she was Harry’s girlfriend. Although Meghan might have understood Kate’s wariness to strike up a meaningful friendship, they were still no closer by the time she was a fellow senior working member of the royal family and the wife of William’s brother,” they wrote.

“Flowers for her birthday were nice, but Meghan would far rather have had Kate check in on her during the most difficult times with the press," it was further added.

It was also noted that the two duchesses may not have been the best of friends but they were also definitely ‘not’ at war with each other either.

"Meghan was disappointed that she and Kate hadn’t bonded over the position they shared, but she wasn’t losing sleep over it. According to a source, Kate felt they didn’t have much in common 'other than the fact that they lived at Kensington Palace,” they said.

Talking about his sudden rise to fame, the YouTuber revealed how a friend of his told him he looked like Ertugrul in 2018.

“In 2018 a friend of mine told me that I looked like this character but it wasn't until the drama began airing in Pakistan when people starting telling me even more than I looked like him,” Hanif said.

He added, “That is also when people told me I should work on this and make some videos.”

When asked if the sudden stardom had changed him, Hanif said that one of the benefits of all the media appearances had been that a lot of brands were now very interested in working and collaborating with him.

Hanif, who works in a private company, said that since his video got viral he has been getting a lot more opportunities and would try to derive benefit from them.

“I will try to take this along with my work and try to get as much benefit as I can with the opportunities that are coming my way,” he said.

Responding to his video where he could be seen riding a white horse dressed like Ertugrul from head to toe, Hanif shared that he had been planning to shoot it for a while.

“There was a lot of work behind this idea. I had been planning for a while now and then I finally decided to shoot it. This was shot in Ramazan and I arranged everything, the horse, the costume and everything and then called the cameraman to shoot it after Fajr,” he said.

When asked if there was a Halime Sultan in his life, Hanif said she came into his life four years ago.

He added that he was planning to travel to Turkey soon and would try to meet the cast of the drama.

Urdu-dubbed episodes of the show during Ramazan and since then, it has become one of the most-watched programmes.

No television show has been able to stir Pakistan the way Ertugrul Ghazi has. “People feel that it is the Turkish play of Game of Thrones,” he told Reuters.

The show also got a ringing endorsement from Prime Minister Imran Khan, who said it would help combat “vulgarity” from Hollywood and Bollywood and promote family culture.

Rift between Prince William and Prince Harry worsening by the day

Prince William and Prince Harry
Prince Harry and Prince William's differences don't seem to be phasing out anytime soon but are most likely deteriorating with each passing day, suggests the latest released excerpt of an explosive new tell-all book.

Written by Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, the book titled Finding Freedom gives a glimpse at all the events that took place within the royal family that eventually led to Harry and Meghan Markle’s exit.

The book claims that the Duke of Cambridge was unhappy with his little brother’s decision of taking an exit. "William, a Kensington Palace source explained, remained upset that private family matters were made public by the couple. 'It’s not anger,' the source explained. 'It’s hurt,’” explained the writers.

"William was more than happy to leave the matter up to staff. He was reported to have told a friend: 'I’ve put my arm around my brother all our lives and I can’t do that anymore; we’re separate entities’,” they wrote further.

The sudden shift between the relationship of the two brothers and their wives Meghan and Kate Middleton, was quite noticeable at the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey back in March.

“While Harry and Meghan both greeted William and Kate with smiles, the Cambridges showed little response. It was the first time the two couples had seen each other since January. 'Harry,' William nodded, ignoring Meghan."

"Grey's Anatomy" to tackle coronavirus pandemic in season 17

The 17th season of the medical drama will showcase the pandemic and the inside stories of the frontline health
The American hospital drama Grey’s Anatomy has decided to seek inspiration from the current coronavirus crisis at hand, for its next storyline.

The 17th season of the medical drama will showcase the pandemic and the inside stories of the frontline health officials battling the infectious disease that has thrown the world into disarray.

Comfort TV That Keeps Us Going panel: "We’re going to address this pandemic for sure. There’s no way to be a long-running medical show and not do the medical story of our lifetimes.”

Vernoff added that each year, the writers meet with real-life doctors to share their stories and while they get an abundance of amusing anecdotes every time, this year the stories were filled with heartache, pain and harrowing experiences, akin to that of fighting a war.

"Every year, we have doctors come and tell us their stories, and usually they’re telling their funniest or craziest stories. This year, it has felt more like therapy. The doctors come in and we’re the first people they’re talking to about these types of experiences they’re having. They are literally shaking and trying not to cry, they’re pale, and they’re talking about it as war a war that they were not trained for."

Speaking about the character of Owen Hunt who is a veteran, Vernoff added: "And that’s been one of our big conversations about Owen, is that he’s actually trained for this in a way that most of the other doctors aren’t.”

She added that the show felt the “responsibility” of narrating the painful stories to the world.

“Our conversations have been constantly about how do we keep alive humor and romance while we tell these really painful stories,” she added.

"She loves her kids tremendously and wants to protect them," the source said. "Her favorite thing in the world is being a mom."

Kanye West tearfully admits he 'almost killed' his daughter

Kanye West delivered an emotional speech at his first campaign event
Kanye West delivered an emotional speech at his first campaign event where he seemingly retracted his earlier statements about abortion.

The 43-year-old rapper addressing a group of attendees at the Exquis Event Center in North Charleston tearfully confessed that he “almost killed his daughter” North West back in 2012.

“I almost killed my daughter…My girlfriend called me screaming, crying. I’m a rapper. And she said I’m pregnant. She was crying,” he said.

“Even if my wife were to divorce me after this speech, she brought North into this world, when I did not want to.In 2020, abortion should be legal,” he said walking back on his previous anti-abortion beliefs.

“My stance is not to make abortion illegal at all. It should always be legal but there should be an option of maximum increase. Everybody that has a baby gets a million dollars, or something.”

He further disclosed that even his own father, Ray West, wanted to abort him back in 1976 but his mom Donda fought for him and brought him into the world.

“My mom saved my life. My dad wanted to abort me…There would have been no Kanye West because my dad was too busy,” he said at the event open to all registered guests who were also expected to sign a COVID-19 liability release form, wear a mask and practice social distancing.

Earlier, he had touched on the same topic during an interview with Forbes, shortly after he announced his decision to run for presidency in 2020: “I am pro-life because I’m following the word of the bible. Planned Parenthoods have been placed inside cities by white supremacists to do the Devil’s work.

Prince William and Prince Harry are inspiring us to repair rifts with our own siblings

Prince Harry and Prince William’s sibling rivalry doesn’t seem to be ending anytime soon it appears
Prince Harry and Prince William’s sibling rivalry doesn’t seem to be ending anytime soon it appears, even after reports of the two letting bygones be bygones.

As per the latest intel on the two brothers, things are likely to remain sour for them till they find themselves living in the same continent.

Former royal press secretary, Dickie Arbiter told Us Weekly: "I hope they settle their rift because there shouldn't be bad blood amongst brothers, particularly those two brothers who went through such trauma together [with the] death of their mother, [Princess Diana].”

"They've been through a lot, and they've carried each other, and they've supported each other. And to have a rift is not healthy in any family. So I hope they are getting back together again."

"Harry being in Los Angeles and William and Catherine being in the United Kingdom, [there's] a great big ocean, a lot of land between, and it's not going to be broached until such time they actually get together [and Harry comes] back to the U.K,” he said.

“That's the million-dollar question. So if they're talking on the phone, well, that's a step in the right direction, but it would be nice if they could actually meet up,” he added.

Amber Heard faked bruises to blackmail Johnny Depp, live-in friend tells court

Amber Heard faked bruises to blackmail Johnny Depp, live-in friend tells court
A friend who lived with the former couple Johnny Depp and Amber Heard and was a witness to their turbulent marriage told the court that the latter had faked her bruises to blackmail her ex-husband.

The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise star is suing the publisher and executive editor of Britain's in London's High Court over a 2018 story branding him a "wife beater".

The Sun says it can prove the 57-year-old abused the 34-year-old model and actress on 14 occasions before their two-year marriage fell apart in 2017.

Depp kicked off proceedings last week by admitting he told Heard after a particularly stormy encounter the two were "a crime scene waiting to happen".

But the focus shifted from the actor's alleged tendency to smash things up while high or drunk to Heard's credibility as Depp's various bodyguards and staff took the stand this week.

Depp's childhood friend Isaac Baruch—an artist who lived in the couple's five penthouse apartment complex in Los Angeles said pictures of Heard's injuries leaked to the media were "phoney baloney".

"She had filed a fraudulent domestic violence claim to push her hand and extort and blackmail him in the divorce," Baruch said.

'Not a single bruise'

One photo in question shows the right side of Heard's face around her eye covered in red markings.

But Depp's friend said he saw Heard from "12 inches away" the next day and her skin was clear.

"I didn't see a single bruise, redness, mark or the red tinted cellphone imprint that was advertised in (magazines). Nothing. Not anything," Baruch said.

Lawyer Sasha Wass, tried to cast Baruch as an unreliable witness who depended on Depp for his livelihood.

She noted that Depp gave Baruch free accommodation and tens of thousand of dollars a year in living expenses.

Wass also asked how Baruch could be sure Heard was not covering up her bruises with makeup.

Baruch said he was "100 percent sure" because he saw Heard four more times over the next three days.

"I saw no marks of any kind on either side of the face," he said.

'I hid it'

Heard has been attending the hearings daily but will only enter the witness box for the first time Monday.

She can expect to be grilled by Depp's lawyer about whether she had staged or otherwise misrepresented any of the photos of her face submitted to court.

The Sun's lawyers said they received a notice from Depp's team Friday claiming that around 20 of the images had been "adapted or manipulated".

Depp's lawyers said the picture Baruch was being asked about had been "photoshopped".

Judge Andrew Nicol agreed to look into the matter further next week.

But Wass presented an audio recording in which Heard told one of her staff that she covered up her bruises in public.

"I hid it from everyone," Heard said in the undated recording played in court.

The case was adjourned until Monday.

Avengers assemble to salute 6-year-old hero who saved sister from dog attack

6-year-old hero who saved sister from dog attack
Marvel's Avengers including Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Spiderman have all assembled, this time to not fight the bad guys but to laurel a six-year-old hero who was mauled while saving his little sister from a dog attack.

"You're a hero, what you did was so brave, so selfless, your sister is so lucky to have you as a big brother," said Chris Evans, the actor who played Captain America in the Avengers movies, of which the little boy is a big fan.

"Your parents must be so proud of you," said Evans.

Bridger Walker, who lives in the western US state of Wyoming, put himself between a German Shepherd mix and his little sister on July 9 as the dog was about to attack the four-year-old girl.

He was bitten badly in the cheek and underwent emergency surgery during which he had 90 stitches put in his face.

"If someone had to die, I thought it should be me," the little boy's parents said he told them afterwards.

His story went viral on US social media and a number of celebrities responded to an appeal by his aunt on Instagram for messages of support for the boy.

Among them was Robert Downey Jr, who plays Iron Man in the Avengers series, who promised Bridger "something special" for his next birthday.

Chris Hemsworth, the actor who played Thor in the superhero films, also praised Bridger as "an absolute inspiration."

"Your courage is beyond belief and we are all so impressed by you, and we're thinking of you," he said.

"I know you're an Avengers fan and so myself and all the team, we'd be honored to have you on the team, and we love you and we're sending you our support."

Singer Salman Ahmed receives criticism for sharing a doctored image of Bilawal Bhutto

Chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari andSinger Salman Ahmed
Bulleh, ki janan mein Kaun?

Na mein momin vich maseet aan

Na mein kufr di reet aan

Na mein paakan vich paleetan

Na mein Moosa na firaun

Bulleh ki janan mein kaun?

Bulleh, who am I?

I am no believer, I have no pagan ways

I'm not pure, I'm not vile

I'm no Moses and I'm no Pharoah

Bulleh, who am I?

Pakistani social media is free for all and much gets lost in translation. I have been accused by ill-informed individuals of misogynistic misconduct as a result of one tweet.

It would normally not be worth describing this storm in a teacup by writing a column in a newspaper.

Yet, in this hyper isolated, warped COVID-19 world, where conspiracy theories and disinformation travel at the speed of light, I feel compelled to provide much-needed context for my satirical tweet.

For the record, I have continuously championed women’s rights throughout my career.

As an artist and a Goodwill Ambassador, I recorded and shot a video on women’s empowerment and an HIV/AIDS starring famous Pakistani actress Nadia Jamil.

Alvida shines a light on the leadership of a Pakistani Woman AIDS activist, Shukriya Gul, living in a society which stigmatises PLWHIV.

My first starring role in a PTV play, Aahat, shined a light on the mother and girl child relationship and the challenges faced by both in a strongly patriarchal society.

My wife, Dr Samina and I run a non-profit, SSGWI, which champions girls' education in Pakistan.

At the same time, I have been a vociferous advocate for human rights / social justice. In 1996, I also recorded an anthem titled Ehtesaab (Accountability). The lyrics were by Hassan Nisar and Shoaib Mansoor.

That Ehtesaab song and video directed by Shoaib Mansoor takes a satirical view of political corruption during the '90s. It was banned by both the PPP and PMLN governments.

So extreme was the response to Ehtesaab, Junoon was banned for three years on TV, radio and even from performing live concerts in Pakistan.

Fast forward to July 2020, I am still attacked on social media, repeatedly for speaking out against political corruption.

Many of these attacks are below the belt, vile death threats and some of them target my wife and family.

It’s no secret that Pakistan’s social media is fiercely partisan. Supporters of political parties and their troll armies continuously hound celebrities, artists and anyone who stands up to powerful mafias.

A couple of days back, I was viciously attacked for sharing a link of the BBC film Princess and the Playboy which features Ehtesaab. An entire troll army went to work attacking me.

The viciousness of the trolls is something I have grown accustomed to but because it was aimed at my personal relationship with the Pakistani Prime Minister, I decided to respond to the tweet directly.

Like the American comedian Sarah Cooper, SNL or the Daily Show, my satirical tweet used provocative images (including an online picture of Bilawal Zardari peering over a diary with a link to the BBC film Princess and the Playboy).

A well known Punjabi proverb completes the message that people who live in glass houses should not throw stones.

That is the entire intention behind my satirical tweet. The firestorm that has erupted is a storm in a teacup.

Mr Zardari and his troll army when they see fit use the same 'satirical' below the belt social media attacks on those who are unable to defend themselves.

I have evidence of all these attacks which I will share with my legal team. I do not wish to hurt anyone’s feelings beyond making my point about entitled scions with feudal backgrounds who can not have it both ways.

Newton’s law says: For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

I have made my point and deleted my tweets, voluntarily.

princess beatrice wore a hand-me-down wedding dress from queen elizabeth

princess beatrice wore a hand-me-down wedding dress
Princess Beatrice let go off the idea of a public royal wedding and decided to make her big day a private affair that was all about hand-me-downs.

The new bride dropped jaws in her vintage attire that was borrowed from Queen Elizabeth’s wardrobe, designed by Normal Hartnell, made from Peau De Soie taffeta and trimmed with ivory Duchess satin.

The dress boasts of organza sleeves, diamantรฉ adornments and checkered geometric bodice that made the princess look like she got right out of a fairytale.

The dress was remodeled by Angela Kelly and Stewart Parvin, who have worked with the queen regularly.

The monarch had earlier worn that dress for the premiere of Lawrence of Arabia in 1962 at the Odeon in Leicester Square in London.

Apart from that, she had also borrowed the tiara from the Queen which Her Majesty had worn on her own wedding days decades ago.

The announcement of Princess Beatrice tying the knot to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi was made on July 17, 2020 by Buckingham Palace. The wedding was held at the Royal Chapel of All Saints at Royal Lodge in Windsor after the ceremony was postponed twice this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Acclaimed Hollywood A-lister Brad Pitt is still one of the most sought-after stars in the industry, basking in fame and glory.

However, the 56-year-old Fight Club star may not be too thrilled about the prominence as revealed by him in an earlier interview.

As the actor makes a shift behind the cameras and gets acquainted with production, he had told New York Times in an earlier interview why he decided to take a step away from acting and headed towards production.

“Producing just means you don’t have to get up really early and put on makeup. I’m curious to see if movies last, if movies stick around.”

“It’ll be fewer and farther in between for me, just because I have other things I want to do now. When you feel like you’ve finally got your arms around something, then it’s time to go get your arms around something else.”

“In the '90s, all that attention really threw me. It was really uncomfortable for me, the cacophony of expectations and judgments. I really became a bit of a hermit and just bonged myself into oblivion.”

He explained further how he is now shifting his focus entirely on authenticity both in his real and reel life.

“The ultimate place for my style of acting, as I understand it, is to get to a place of just absolute truth.”

Bushra Ansari apologised to Lubna Faryad critics over using harsh words

Bushra Ansari apologised to Lubna Faryad
Veteran actor Bushra Ansari has apologised to drama critics over using harsh words after she found herself embroiled in a controversy.

A drama critic, Lubna Faryad aka Amma, who views Pakistani dramas through the lens of a woman watching television reviewed Ansari’s drama.

Following this, the Jawani Phir Nahi Ani actress left a harsh comment but has now admitted that she overreacted.

Turning to Instagram, she explained herself and said that “Artists, writers, directors and producers are creative people who put a lot of heart and soul into their work. In a way, their project becomes like a child for them that they create with love for their audience.”

She went onto add that due to the amount of effort artists put into work, they tend to get hurt when someone ridicules their hardwork.

“I believe that everyone has a right to like or dislike our work but language is important,” she further said condoning the use of offensive language when speaking about someone.

“I realize that last week, I overreacted and wrote harsh words on Instagram. In a moment, I realized my mistake and deleted it but in the time of social media, it became a tamasha and sadly, spread like fire.”

The actress accepted that her words were too harsh and she did not handle her anger well. She clarified she has no hard feelings for the Munshi family or anyone and urged everyone on social media to choose their words carefully.

Fawad Khan has been reigning over the showbiz industry
Pakistani heartthrob Fawad Khan has been reigning over the showbiz industry in not just his home country but has undeniably made his mark across the border in Bollywood as well.

An old video of the Khoobsurat actor has been making rounds online where he shares some endearing and hilarious moments with Bollywood bigwigs Ranveer Singh and Karan Johar at the 17th IIFA Awards.

In the video, the Gully Boy actor can be seen gushing over the Humsafar star as his female fans were sent in a tizzy over his arrival at the red carpet with Karan Johar.

Imitating his crazed admirers, Singh says: “What happens to chicks when they see him? What happens to you all?” Someone from the crowd shouts back saying, “Kuch kuch hota hai.”

All the while, Khan gushes and lets out a chuckle while looking characteristically dapper.
